Sunday Selections #803

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Sorry I still haven't succeeded in working out how to do a blog hop. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme.  I moaned about the weather last week and took you back with me to Antarctica where my heart was.  I am going to have another weather related moan today.  We were promised rain last week.  Lots of rain.  And rain every day.  Sadly by Friday at midnight we had only received a total of 5mm (less than 0.2 of an inch).

It was hot, humid and muggy.  And windy. Poor Batty has been suffering too.  Canberra is known as the pollen capital of  Australia and his asthma has been bad, meaning that we have to force his inhaler on him for longer periods.

Most of his fur has grown back after his recent surgery - just in time for him to moult up a storm.

When I could I only went out at first light.

However, very early on Saturday we finally got some rain.  The garden is happy.  I am happy and Batty is wheezing less. I do love seeing rain bejewelled plants.

I think the corellas are happy too.

I hope the weather (and everything else) is kind to you this week.

I usually run with a theme. I am still struggling (humidity rather than heat) and this post is more snippets from home.

Most of our dawns are galah coloured.

They are soft, gentle, and I think beautiful.

However, every so often we have a much more vivid start to the day.

The early birds were corellas rather than galahs, and they were not looking for worms but hunting for seed.  Which of course I provided.

A little while ago I showed you a shot of our front veranda, which is usually a cool haven.  At the moment it is a cool and colourful haven as the begonias put on their display.

And yes, it is a haven for the spider too.  I admired the web and left it be.

I hope you find a haven this week too.  Our school holidays are about to finish.  If my recalcitrant body allows it we have an excursion in mind.  Watch this space...

I usually run with a theme. You might remember about two weeks ago I said there was nothing much blooming in the garden.  I turned around last week and realised how wrong I was.  There are lots and lots of lilies out - and more coming out each day.

Those white ones glow in the very early morning light don't they?

The honesty seed pods are starting to peel away to reveal the 'silver dollar' within.

And some corellas for those of you who don't share my obsession with the garden.

And the gentle light of a soft and welcoming dawn.

I hope the holiday season was/is treating you well.  Take care.
