Sunday Selections #623

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme.  Not this week. Life has got in the way.  Batty had a wonderful report after his last vet visit. He has one more at the end of the month (where they will also take x-rays) but he is expected to be able to leave the confines of the ensuite and rejoin the family.  My health news is not so positive. I am now battling breathing difficulties and despite antibiotics my blood oxygen levels are only just above the level that would have me in hospital. Cross your fingers for me.

Which is a long winded way of saying that the photos are pretty much same old, same old this week.

From the sky:

And a few from the garden;

I hope that you all have a happy, healthy Passover/Easter (which ever and whatever you celebrate or don't).

Where are the Words for Wednesday?

Huge thanks to  Susan Kane and River who provided and posted last month's prompts.

APRIL:  T Powell Coltrin  Teresa (another new volunteer) has offered to provide the prompts.  I am assume they will be on her blog and may (since she is in the Northern Hemisphere), appear as late as Thursday for some of us.  Charlotte (MotherOwl)'s colour of the month is Reseda Green, which Google tells me is a kind of greyish green.

MAY:  David M Gascoigne is providing the prompts and they will be here.

JUNE:  Hilary Melton-Butcher is providing the prompts and they will be here again.

JULY : Charlotte (MotherOwl) is providing the prompts on her blog.

AUGUST:  messymimi is providing the prompts on her blog.

SEPTEMBER:  River is providing the prompts on her blog.

OCTOBER:  Sean Jeating is providing the prompts which will appear here.  He often plays, but has never provided the prompts before.

NOVEMBER:  Alex J. Cavanaugh is providing the prompts again and they will be here.

DECEMBER:  Wisewebwoman is providing the prompts on her blog.

As usual I am running with a theme. I am taking you back to Enlighten again this week.  Enlighten is an annual event in my city and most of it is free. This week we are in the Parliamentary Triangle where most of the buildings were illuminated.

As I so often say, come wander with me.

As always we started at the National Art Gallery. I adore the orb and photograph it every time we are there. Those flames were very realistic, I could almost hear the crackle and feel the heat.

Lots of the pathways and trees were also lit up.

As was this fountain.

Then to the National Portrait Gallery.

More inflatables - which made me think of sea critters.

Then to Old Parliament House - which is officially known as the Museum of Democracy - and very rarely called that by the person on the street.

Then to Questacon, our interactive Science and Technology Centre - which gave a strong nod to our First People which I appreciated. My city is on Ngunnawal land.

Finishing up at our National Library. Not only were there images, the people in them were sharing snippets of their story over loud speakers.

Parliament House was also illuminated this year, but it meant an additional couple of kilometres walking and I was tuckered out.  Next year I hope...

I hope your week is bright and beautiful.
