Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle. River may not join us this week, depending on how her eye is adapting to the cataract surgery she had on Thursday. If she doesn't she will be missed.
The
rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos
under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Sorry I still
haven't succeeded in working out how to do a blog hop. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I
usually run with a theme. This has been another busy and fraught week (and next week will be too). I am going to go back and post some more feature balloons from years gone by - photos that have definitely been languishing in my files.
2021 when we had a plethora of feature balloons including Skywhale Papa and Skywhale Mama.
2008. No features balloons but a glimpse of how beautiful it is to be flying in a balloon - with the other balloon tragic in the family.
Thank you for allowing me to indulge myself - and yes there are yet more folders of balloon photos. Which I may post again next week.
I hope your coming week is packed with colour and joy
Love seeing these balloons from past years! I love the sloth and unicorn- though they are all fun. Thanks for brightening my day. :)
ReplyDeleteStephanie R: I am glad they brightened your day. They certainly did mine - then and now.
DeleteI love the unicorn especially, and the sloth makes me smile. Thank you for posting these, EC, they do help my spirits to rise a little.
ReplyDeleteDJan: My spirits always rise with balloons. Hugs.
DeleteGracias por tan lindo reportaje, y si encuentras alguna más, no dudes en publicarlas, porque es una gozada ver este espectáculo de diseños y color.
ReplyDeleteUn saludo, amiga Sue, y que tengas una buena semana.
Manuel: I have lots more balloon photos and may share them again next week. Thank you - and you have a great day and week too.
DeleteThey beautify the sky. Looking up for a long period of time may not be too comfortable. : )
ReplyDeletecontempladoraocidental: I do find taking photographs over my head challenging.
DeleteLaura Eno - More balloons always welcome! Taking flight in one must have been awesome.
ReplyDeleteHope you carve out moments for yourself amidst the chaos of your week and regroup. Hugs to you always and scritches to the furry overlords.
Laura Eno: Flying in a balloon is one of my happiest memories. I hope you too can carve some moments of joy. Hugs to you too. Always.
DeleteThese hot balloons are so fabulous to look at.
ReplyDeleteroentare: I think so too.
DeleteLovely to see all of these photographs, a nice collection.
ReplyDeleteI do like the smile on the sloths face :)
Enjoy the remainder of the weekend.
Sending lots of good wishes across the miles.
All the best Jan
Lowcarb team member ~Jan: Thank you. I hope you have an excellent week too.
DeleteThey are just so terrific. The first blue one looks a bit like a skull.
ReplyDeleteAndrew: That first blue one is the airforce balloon. It depicts a pilot's helmet and I always think of Darth Vader when I see it.
DeleteSo glad you brought these balloons out of hiding and onto your blog. I thought the sloth was cute. But I was most impressed by your photos from one of the balloons. They were stunning. And you were brave!
ReplyDeleteBleubeard and Elizabeth: Flying in a balloon was fabulous and I wasn't a bit afraid. No courage necessary.
DeleteYoda does look a bit creepy, yet still wonderful. I love the unicorn and the sloth, and the motorbike helmet was new to me, that's the one Andrew thinks looks like a skull I think, but having been a bike rider in the past I recognised it immediately.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the views from above.
River: It is indeed a helmet, but a pilot's rather than a motorcycle helmet. Off to the side is the airhose. It was wonderful looking down at my city from above.
DeleteAs far as I care, you may post balloon photos, old or new, for a few weeks. I'd love to go up in a tethered balloon, just up, see the sights for a short time, then come back down.
ReplyDeletemessymimi: I hope you get your wish and get a short flight. Mind you I don't think a tethered balloon gets high enough for the views...
DeleteThey are all beautiful but yoda does look creepy.
ReplyDeleteStrayer: Yoda only looked creepy when the burners were on. Just flying he was fabulous.
Deletei always love your balloon photos
ReplyDeleteAnne in the kitchen: Thank you.
DeleteHi EC - those are delightful ... some a little worrying! - but so be it - and that orange sloth ... rather bright, while yes - Yoda does look a little creepy. Wonderful views from on high ... I hope your week will be easier - cheers for now - Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: Thank you. The view that autumn (further advanced that year) was amazing. Next week will be v busy and a tad fraught but hopefully after that it will start to settle (at least a little).
DeleteThese are so good, it's wonderful to be able to see them. Thank you EC.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D: Thank you.
DeleteAbsolutely delightful to see these! Thanks for sharing 'em.
ReplyDeleteBill: It was my pleasure.
DeleteWhen did you take a ride in a balloon?
ReplyDeleteAlex J. Cavanaugh: That trip was March 2008. And is a treasured memory.
DeleteHi EC,
ReplyDeleteYoday DOES look creepy doesn't it? I like the Angry Birds though.
:o)
Cheers
PM
Plastic Mancunian: I was amazed at just how creepy Yoda was when the burners were alight.
DeleteThat balloon festival is quite the event, Sue. I don’t know of any other city that holds such an event, but that’s probably due to lack of knowledge on my part. Sorry to hear that the upcoming week looks fraught for you. Hope it’s manageable. Best wishes - David
ReplyDeleteDavid M. Gascoigne: I believe we are the only city that holds these festivals. Just the same, if the winds would take the balloons over some areas (like the airport) they are cancelled for the day).
DeleteSome people's creativity is astounding! I hope your week is better than you are anticipating
ReplyDeleteKim: As an appreciator rather than a creator I am ever grateful for the creative types. Fingers crossed for my week and thank you for those wishes.
DeleteSón maquíssims tots, la creativitat està molt present tant per les formes com pels colors.
ReplyDeleteAferradetes, Sue.
sa lluna: I agree. I am holding on - and hope you are too.
DeleteI love seeing your balloon photos! I am wishing for you a much easier and better week than you expect. Aloha my friend
ReplyDeleteCloudia: Thank you - on both counts.
DeleteJust love all those colorful balloons, i have you have a good start to the new week,
ReplyDeleteRasmaSandra: I love them too. Today has two less than pleasant tasks. Then they start again on Wednesday.
DeleteGoodness those balloons are great. So colorful.
ReplyDeleteMary Kirkland: Thank you - I agree.
DeleteHow very lovely they are. I prefer the pretty ones to the cartoonish ones.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: I love them all.
DeleteHow did you get the aerial shots? Were you in a balloon? Or do you have a drone?
ReplyDeleteMike: I was in a balloon.
DeleteLovely! The imagination and variety of those balloons is amazing, and your photos brought back happy memories of my one-and-only balloon ride, too. Thanks for that! (And hang in there - I hope your challenging weeks will become more manageable soon.)
ReplyDeleteDiane Henders: Balloon rides are magical aren't they? I hope you enjoyed yours as much as I did mine.
DeleteAmazing and beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteLinda's Relaxing Liar: Thank you.
DeleteIt’s always nice to dig through older photos and find gems you might have forgotten about.
ReplyDeleteMELODY JACOB: It is.
DeleteYes, definitely color and joy. We need both.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: Lots of both.
Deletegigi-hawaii
DeleteThank you so much Elephant Child!
ReplyDeleteThese images are a real treasure!
How beautiful the earth is from above and how much color!!
Incredibly impressive!!
Katerinas Blog: We live in a beautiful world don't we?
DeleteOMGosh amazing xx
ReplyDeleteaussie aNNie: Thank you. I hope you are better.
DeleteThose must be fantastic in person! Thanks for sharing them and have a good day.
ReplyDeletee: They are fantastic in person. I hope you and Mercy have an excellent week.
DeleteThe balloon designs have become more intricate and detailed since 2008! Great series, EC.
ReplyDeleteMarie Smith: Some of the balloon designs are incredibly intricate, but I love them all.
DeleteThose are cool!!
ReplyDeleteDanielle: Aren't they great?
DeleteSending love and hugs.
ReplyDeletewww.rsrue.blogspot.com
Regina: Thank you. Have a great day.
DeleteI want to take off with the balloons and float around so I can escape the orange felon.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Janie Junebug: How I wish that you (and the world) could escape the orange felon.
DeleteThese are some wonderful balloons, Sue - I really like the sloth! I envy you a bit for having had the opportunity to ride in a balloon - it must have been amazing. There are balloon rides offered over wine country here, but they are so hideously expensive, it's not happening.
ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: Balloon rides are not cheap here either, but I am very glad to have been. The sloth is lovely isn't it?
DeleteSchöne und Fantasievolle Figuren so eine Balonfahrt ist klasse.
ReplyDeleteGruß
Noke
Noke: Thank you. Balloon rides ARE fantastic.
