Sunday Selections #816

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.  River may not join us this week, depending on how her eye is adapting to the cataract surgery she had on Thursday.  If she doesn't she will be missed.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Sorry I still haven't succeeded in working out how to do a blog hop. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme.  And this week it is yet another week of balloons.  After which I will switch to other obsessions.

You can see just how big the beagle is when you look at the people watching it inflate.
A better photo of our airforce helmet - which flies almost every year.

This earthbound balloon (poetic license) nudged me in the fundament to get me to move.  I did.

T-Rex didn't take to the air on the day that we were there, but simply inflated and then deflated - which I found surprisingly moving.

Here's to colour and joy for us all.  This week and every week.

  10. Laura Eno - I love the balloons, and your look backs to other years. Thank you for that. Yes, the T-Rex deflating showed his doom rather poetically. My favorites are always the animals and birds.
I hope you’re having a pleasant day and your week ahead isn’t grinding. Hugs to you and homage to the overlords.

    1. River: T-Rex flew other mornings (and I saw it once briefly) just not on the morning we were there. That moonshot was taken from home just before we headed off to the balloons.

    1. Kim: The twin trees are still here, but frequently have a big van parked in front of them these days - new neighbours and their carers.

    1. Lowcarb team member ~Jan; I am glad you have been enjoying the weekend with your family. When I snapped that moon just before we headed off early one morning I took it as a good sigh - and it was.

  25. I was about to ask if the balloons flew in the year of the Covid shutdown . . . And there they were! I can understand the emotion of watching the dinosaur deflate. I well up over such things too. Thank you for these delightful photos of the balloons. The beagle's head rising above the treetops is both surreal and amusing :) Take care of youself, dear friend.
