Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.
Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks),
and I have accepted the mantle.
The
rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos
under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Sorry I still
haven't succeeded in working out how to do a blog hop. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I
usually run with a theme. I am still home. Yay.
I did (of course) have to make repeated trips to the hospital last week. However I also had to go into town which is where much of my focus is this week.
Doesn't this bear cry out to be hugged? It is in an area set aside for children in the hospital but this adult was tempted too.
I have featured The Big Swoop before. It was vandalised shortly after it was installed but has been repaired and is now back on display.
And a nearby mural - down an otherwise unappealing alley.
This coming week will be busy. I have multiple medical appointments and I think I start chemotherapy on Wednesday so I will be largely absent from the blogosphere. I hope your week is packed with colour and joy.
Los Murales me ha gustado mucho, tienen mucho arte. Me alegra ver tu nueva publicación.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
VENTANA DE FOTO: Thank you.
DeleteLaura Eno - I’m so glad you got some outings that were enjoyable and a roo fix! An emotional buoy to counteract all the appointments.
ReplyDeleteLove the bear and I’m glad the magpie was repaired. The murals in your city continue to amaze me. All the color is beautiful!
Sending virtual stamina your way for the week ahead and lots of love as well.
Laura Eno: The trip into town was exhausting but I am glad I went. Aren't I lucky that my city is packed with colour and art?
DeleteVirtual stamina and love are more than welcome. Thank you.
Hi EC - I know I'll be thinking of you ... I'm so pleased you're able to get out and see some enjoyment and pleasure ... your garden will be growing. I think you've been having some rain, but perhaps it's further south - one of cricketers mentioned it!!. As you mention colour and art - always good to see and appreciate, then the roo fix by the lake ... also lovely to be able to get there and see the surroundings. All the best as this week goes ... thanks for being here for us - it's good to see you here and on my blog - for which thank you ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: Sadly the rain was elsewhere. Thank you. I suspect I will not be around blogs much next week but will miss you all.
DeleteGood luck with the chemo, I hope it all goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteI love the murals, I don't see much of that kind art here.
Mary Kirkland: Thank you. Fingers crossed on the chemo front. Fortunately we have a LOT of public art.
DeleteThe murals are such a great idea. They really brighten up an otherwise unwelcoming place. I hope you carry them in your heart as you do all the medical things.
ReplyDeleteSandi: Beauty sustains me - and there is a LOT of it about. Even sometimes in the medical places/things.
DeleteI love to imagine you smiling broadly. ;-)
ReplyDeleteKeep going, Sue.
My good thoughts are with you.
Sean Jeating: I often smile. And have done several times today already. Hugs.
DeleteMagpies remind me of Heckle and Jeckle. We have two huge ravens, we’ve affectionately nicknamed Heckle and Jeckle just because they “heckle” my black lab and she runs around the yard barking at them.
ReplyDeleteMurals are here to stay. Seems town, big and small have them now. They’re cheery!
Debby @ My Shasta Home: We have ravens too. Such beautiful, intelligent family minded birds. Isn't it great to see murals?
DeleteLove all these murals
ReplyDeleteroentare: I did too. They are in a part of town I haven't visited often but I suspect that my paths will take me past them more often in the future.
DeleteYou have such an art-filled place to live - our city is very drab by comparison! I would have had to hug the teddy. The magpie sculpture is great too. I hope all goes well for you next week - I'll be thinking about you and sending good vibes.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Ellie
Ellie Foster: Only the thought that if I got down to him I would have trouble getting up again stopped me from hugging that teddy.
DeleteI do love our art and its appearance in otherwise drab places. And thank you.
Gorgeous murals. I'd hug that Teddy in a minute. Hoping for the very best outcome for you regarding your upcoming chemo. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeletee: Thank you. The teddy is gorgeous isn't he?
DeleteI hope your week is full of colour and joy EC and I wouldn't hesitate to cuddle that teddy. A precious friend of mine has been having chemotherapy this year and I gave her a little soft toy cat that she still keeps with her in hospital. I'm thinking of you and hope you get to see many blossoms and birds and kangaroos, and that your health steadily improves over the next few weeks.
ReplyDeleteKim: I like the idea of taking something into the hospital. I may have to consider it. Thank you - and there will be birds and flowers and joy.
DeleteiIshing you well as you begin your treatment. My hope for you it that it is not too brutal
ReplyDeleteAnne in the kitchen: I share your hope.
DeleteIf I lived nearby I would offer to make you dinner, a vegetarian dinner.
ReplyDeletecontempladoraocidental: Thank you. Food is not attractive at the moment but thank you.
DeleteI was about to compliment you on the stunning magpie photo, but once enlarged, I realised it was art. There is some lovely murals featured. Good luck for the forthcoming week.
ReplyDeleteAndrew: Yanni Pounartzis captured the essence of magpie didn't he? I hope the coming week is gentler than I expect.
DeleteThat Bear! I would have hugged him plenty! I love the magpie, which is so much nicer than our giant pigeon, and the mural is so colourful, quite breath taking with the frogs and lizards and whatever that black and grey animal is? looks like a cross between a fox and a possum.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are well enough to go and see the roos and hope the chemo doesn't take too much out of you. I've heard it's rough going but some handle it better than others.
River: Isn't the magpie gorgeous? The bear will be there when I go to the hospital on Monday and Wednesday. Perhaps I will hug him then. I will have to see how chemo treats me but do hope it isn't vile.
DeleteI love the magpie and the tree frog would be my pick of the murals but its all fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you seek out beauty and Im sure it will continue to be an important element in your health journey xo
kylie: I ALWAYS seek out beauty. And am v grateful there is so much of it about.
DeleteI really enjoyed your selections.
ReplyDeleteNext time, hug the bear. Or take one with you to chemo, I'll bet it helps.
messymimi: I am sure that the chemo team have seen plenty of cuddle bears in their time...
Deletethecontemplativecat here. Your art displays (mural, cool sculpture..) always amazes me. In fact you amaze me. Sue, you are a talented person who has enriched my life by your writing and photos. When will the corellas and galahs appear in your photos?
ReplyDeleteSusan Kane: Thank you. I am not sure when I will next feature corellas and galahs but am delighting in both of them.
DeleteI love blogs which feauturing small photos or images do to my very low internet speed. I wanna say thanks to you for that
ReplyDeleteWishing you ease and courage with the upcoming chemotherapy, and may your garden and roo fixes keep lifting your spirits.
Asep Haryono: Thank you - on both counts. I sometimes post lots of photos which might make it slower to load for you.
DeleteGood luck on Wednesday. That teddy does need to be hugged.
ReplyDeleteThe murals are looking good too.
Take care.
Who wouldn't want to hug that bear! Laura made teddy bears for a while and could never part with one. We have lot of bears. They're good company in these scary times. The big magpie and the mural are great. There's something about that huge magpie that makes me think of an early 50's sci-fi movie. Take care of yourself.
