Like River I usually run with a theme.  This week? Beauty.  Moving from delicate to dramatic and back to delicate again.

Starting with delicate.

Starting with a hoya - which a blogger told me looked like cake decorations.  And I would agree.  Very, very pretty cake decorations.
 

 And then to a double lilium.  I do love its blushing pink petals.

Then to a blazing sunset which had me, the smaller portion and a new neighbour standing in the road.

And back to a subtler kind of beauty.  Our honesty (lunaria) plants have gone to seed.  The seed pods don't look like much, but the outside cover peels away to reveal perfect silver discs...

Like River I usually run with a theme.   This week I am going back to the garden.  The poor neglected garden which I cannot (yet) get back into to do the work it needs.  The hip issue I complained about last week has been diagnosed as bursitis.  It is still very, very painful and limiting.  Sigh.

So we will look at the begonias (and a few other plants) on the veranda and deck and treat the rest of the garden with ignore. 

The hoya is in flower again.

This last plant's common name is the Goldfish Plant.  I think it is well named, and the common name is much easier to remember than Nematanthus glabra.

It says it needs a warm, frost free location - but it lies.  The plants have thrived on our back deck for many years now.

Like River I usually run with a theme.  This week for something completely different I am returning to some of my obsessions.

We have had a fledgling galah visiting this week.  A whinging, complaining, fledgling galah.  He/she is perfectly well able to eat but complains at length to the adults.

The young ones have very much more muted colours than the adult (presumably as camouflage).

And now the much more vivid adult.

On Friday we were visited by a pair of Rainbow Lorikeets.  They are well away from their natural territory - but very welcome.

We have had some hot weather lately.  Too hot.  Much of the garden has baked, but the tiger lilies (and the weeds) are loving it.

The hoya which we picked up cheaply from the markets a few years ago because the owner was tired of waiting for it to flower is also doing well.

The blooms always remind me of cake decorations...

And the obligatory sunset.  And yes, mad woman with camera dances were involved.  

Next week an elderly uncle of the smaller portion is coming to stay with us.  I expect to be kept too busy to spend much time in the blogosphere so will be largely absent from Tuesday on for about ten days.  Have fun, and I will see you when I return.  Or if I can sneak a few moments to myself.

Like River I usually run with a theme. This week?  Lazy again.  I am returning to my old obsessions; birds, the sky and the garden.

Then the sky - a sunset this time.

And a hoya which lives on our front veranda.  We picked it up (very cheaply) at a market a few yearss ago because the seller said she was tired of waiting for it to bloom.  She would be sorry she gave it up now.  It has been flowering for a few years now, and we get more blooms each year.
