Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I usually run with a theme. This week is a bit same old, same old. I am an early riser and at my best, such as it is, in the early morning. Our currently frosty early mornings. I know that many of you are struggling in oppressive heat and hope these cool weather photos cool you down.
They haven't been hard frosts - it is nowhere near cold enough to freeze bubbles, but the frosts are definitely a happening thing.
I mentioned last week that there is always something in bloom. The following cymbidium orchid blooming on my veranda surprised me - but it is welcome anyway.
In a week or two I hope to post photos from a much more exciting excursion.
Have a wonderful week.
River Fairchild - The coolness of your photos is definitely a welcome sight as we are too hot, too soon. It bodes ill for the rest of the summer here.
ReplyDeleteThat is an exquisite moon shot! And the unexpected blooms are always a thing of beauty.
I’m glad you’re in your cool season again. May it last a long time for you.
Take care of yourself and I’m sending hugs your way, my sister across the sea.
River Fairchild: I have been watching the temperatures on your side of the world in horror. And hoping that you get some relief. The orchid is a beauty and has more buds that are nearly out. Huge hugs and much love.
DeleteI envy you for being an early riser. You come up with such exciting photos of the sky!
ReplyDeleteThe orchid blooming on the veranda is a delightful sight!
DUTA: There is no virtue in my early rising. My eyes roll back and that is it for a while. It was a grey start to the day today but there was still serenity and beauty. The orchid is a beauty isn't it?
DeleteWhat beautiful gentle dawn photos.
ReplyDeleteAnd the moon is just stunning.
I hope there are at least a couple of mornings cold enough to freeze bubbles.
Have a good week!
kylie: Despite the weather talking about a cold snap we didn't even have a frost this morning. It isn't precisely warm, but much warmer than I expect at this time of year. Fingers crossed on the bubbles front - and you have a great week too.
DeleteIt is almost frosting every morning now. Finally, I am slowly capable of sleeping in. Thanks for the cold weather
ReplyDeleteroentare: No frost here this morning. Drizzle. It isn't warm though. At 1.30 we are at 7.5C (45.5 F).
DeleteDear EC
ReplyDeleteYou do see some wonderful sunrises and sunsets. I hope you can do your thing with the frost bubbles at some point. The orchid is lovely.
Have a gentle and calm week
Best wishes
Ellie
Ellie Foster: Our sunrises are almost always gentle, but lovely. I hope I can freeze bubbles too but I may have to wait until next year. The orchid is a beauty though.
DeleteRefreshing!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Caterina: It IS refreshing. You have a lovely weekend too.
DeleteHey there, EC. I admit freely I'm not an early riser these mornings. I like snuggling up in bed, and really need a crane to lift the blankets off me, to allow me to rise! The host of puzzles surrounding me, help with my delay in rising, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope the week ahead treats you gently, EC...take good care. My cuddles to Batty and Odie.
Lee: Himself doesn't get up early either. And is often joined by Batty. I hope your week is gentle too.
DeleteWhat a spectacular shot of the full moon. Some day, I hope to be able to take such a great photo of the moon. Enjoy the coolness. Here our temperature is still fluctuating and it rains often. Some days are very hot and others are even cold in the morning but I can't complain.
ReplyDeleteTake care and enjoy the cooler temperatures.
Hugs,
Julia
Julia: It was too cloudy to even attempt a photo on the night of the full moon but I got lucky the following morning. Moon shots are tricky aren't they? Enjoy your rain - we could do with some.
DeleteFrost. I faintly remember that.
ReplyDeleteAlex J. Cavanaugh: I would miss frost if we didn't have any. Fortunately we do.
DeleteLove that first photo, EC, and the frost on the vegetation. Cool is good in my book.
ReplyDeleteMarie Smith: Cool is definitely good in my eyes too.
DeleteThat moon is sure big and bright. The frost photos make me feet shiver.
ReplyDeleteStrayer: Your feet would definitely be shivering here today. No frost, but it is on the cool side. And damp.
DeleteLovely moon there EC. The frost, oh yes crunchy under foot, we haven't had that many and if so only light ones at our house.
ReplyDeleteLovely colour sky and a beautiful orchid.
Margaret D: We have had lots fewer crunchy frosts this year. Some cool days, but less frost. Sigh.
DeleteLoved the orchid at the end and the full moon!!
ReplyDeleteNice collection of Sunday!! Have a nice SundayE.C.🧡
Katerinas Blog: Thank you. You have a great weekend too.
DeleteOur weather is fine, but I truly enjoyed your pictures nonetheless. Oh yes--- My mystery picture was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. I loved the relationship between the building (a hotel) and the mountain. A lot of other stuff was removed by my magic paintbrush. Stay warm...
ReplyDeleteBill: Ahhh. Now I see. And would like a magic paintbrush of my own.
DeleteHi EC - so glad the weather is cooler for you - but am glad we've had some very sunny English weather ... lovely shots of life down under - take care and all the best for the coming week - Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: I am glad you are finally getting some sun, and am definitely enjoying our cooler days. Thank you.
DeleteEarly mornings are very special. Glad we share them in a sense. Aloha friend!
ReplyDeleteCloudia: I am more than happy to share - as you are.
DeleteAmong the many values we share, Sue, the love of cool, frosty mornings is one of them. I can hardly wait! Enjoy them while you may.
ReplyDeleteDavid M. Gascoigne: They are blissful aren't they? I am really enjoying ours and hope you have some relief from the heat.
DeleteBrrrr! We had a frost here recently, even had to scrape ice from the car windows. You are tougher than I am, I scurried back into the warm as soon as my cold toes would get me there.
ReplyDeleteKim: The dread disease has its advantages. I do get cold but it takes a long time and lower temperatures than it does for many.
DeleteThe moon is so yellow! The orchid looks like the type I carried for my wedding (mum's choice). I don't think I will ever see another frost where I live.
ReplyDeleteRiver: I was amazed at how yellow the moon was too. And am hoping for harder frosts to come. Do I detect that you don't really like that type of orchid?
DeleteI am so fortunate to be in a moderate climate, almost year round. But our hot days are ahead, and I'll gladly come back here and gaze at your frost. Virtual hugs, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteDJan: I hope your moderate weather continues. I know that like me you are not a fan of heat.
DeleteSimply beautiful images!
ReplyDeleteI just walked back in from cleaning and filling bird feeders and your cool photographs offered immediate relief from our thick humidity. Thank you!
Hope the cool days help you feel better.
Wally Jones: Thick humidity? Shudder. And yes, the cool days are indeed helping me feel better. Thank you.
DeleteI love that view of the rime on your lawn beautifully captured going off into the distance.
ReplyDeleteAnd that brave beautiful orchid. I am looking at mine at the moment hoping it will bloom again, it seems to be every 6 months. It's my first orchid ever so I called her Aurora.
XO
WWW
Wisewebwoman: I was surprised to see the orchid in flower - I don't think that any of the others are even in bud. It is a beauty isn't it, and yes, I also liked the vista of the frost bejewelling the lawn.
DeleteHello and happy afternoon to you, what a great moon capture, another perk of being an early riser. We've had a bit more rain and of course flooding, and some heat, but it's to be expected since we had very little snow this last winter which is lovely with me. Enjoy your lovely world and have a wonderful joyful week ahead. Take care.
ReplyDelete21 Wits: Our winter has been milder than usual so far. Rain and flooding? Some weather moderation would be nice. I hope you too have a joyful week.
DeleteFrost sculptures, skies and flowers are exciting. If we forget it, we won't cherish them.
ReplyDeleteMy selections are over here.
messymimi: The little things are huge in my world. I really enjoyed your selections - as I always do.
DeleteI am not envious of your weather. It could be better, as we're supposed to get rain tomorrow, but at least we're experiencing neither extreme heat nor frost.
ReplyDeleteI do really need to take more photos.
Astrid: Welcome and thank you. I would welcome your rain but am also enjoying our frosty mornings. Another light one today.
DeleteCool and beautiful, and I love the 'surprise orchid'! :-)
ReplyDeleteDiane Henders: We love the surprise orchid too. Why it is flowering now I know not.
DeleteGreat pictures. Love that moon shot.
ReplyDeleteHena Tayeb: Thank you.
DeleteAwesome moon shot!
ReplyDeleteMike: I got lucky.
DeleteI always love your pictures. The flowers are so pretty and the sky pictures look wonderful
ReplyDeleteMary Kirkland: Thank you. Comments like yours make me feel a little less guilty for so often posting the same things.
DeleteI love your photos at dawn. That orchid is very pretty.
ReplyDeletegigi-hawaii: Thank you. The orchid is getting more flowers each day.
DeleteI actually love frosty mornings and now I dream of them in the heat of summer. In the frost of winter I dream of hot summer days. Such a conundrum, lol! I will look forward to your frozen bubbles :) Lovely moon and sky photos! Your orchid looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDeniseinVA: I never look forward to summer. I do hope that frozen bubbles happen this year, but wonder...
DeleteBrrrr! I'm happy in my less than stellar summer. Frost is pretty, but I love me some hotter, sunnier dayse for my mental wellbeing. That moon in the first photo is the very best!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte (MotherOwl): We will agree to disagree. I do love a crisp, clean frosty morning. And the moon.
DeleteBeautiful sky showing our crisp winter air, you must be colder there... xx
ReplyDeleteaussie aNNie: It is certainly crisp but not as cold (yet) as in other years.
DeleteAlways LOVE your photo's, but that picture of the moon ...WOW!!!! What a picture.
ReplyDeleteSandy: Thank you. My photos of the moon are usually failures.
DeleteThe frosty pictures are beautiful. I feel cooler already:) Sandra sandracox.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteSandra Cox: I am glad. No frost for the last couple of days - though it has been cool.
DeleteBeautiful photos. The moon looks amazing. Love the cymbidium orchid. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteDMS: Thank you.
DeleteYour frosty photos are just lovely, Sue - perfect for this 38C day! The ceiling fan is doing overtime (we don't have AC) and I'm just lazy. I love that there is always something in bloom, even in winter - just like here. It is so beautiful. Hugs - Carola
ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: The something always in bloom is wonderful isn't it? I hope you can stay cool. 38C is way too hot for me.
DeleteThat moon just pops in the first pic.
ReplyDeleteSandra sandracox.blogspot.com
Sandra Cox: It popped in the early morning light too.
DeleteI did enjoy seeing your photographs.
ReplyDeleteSuch a good looking moon and I like your frosty pictures too.
We've actually had some cooler days recently and I believe they had rain at Wimbledon! Perhaps it will be soup instead of the traditional strawberries! (No, I don't think so!)
Enjoy the rest of your week and have a good July.
All the best Jan
Lowcarb team member ~Jan: Rain at Wimbelton? Unheard of - though I am sure that strawberries will still be served.
DeleteThat amazing moon looked like you could take it and dribble it. As hot as it is where I am if a were to fly to where you are I would lay down on the cool, cool ground and not move for a long time,
ReplyDeleteRasmaSandra: I so understand your longing for cool ground - and hope you get some relief from the heat.
DeleteHave a grand weekend. Sandra sandracox.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteSandra Cox: Thank you - and to you.
